2011 Filing season is starting off with a bang - New Congress, delayed filing season and last minute approval of the Bush tax cuts. - Expanded options for using tax refunds to buy savings bonds.
- Taxpayers can use medical flexible spending and health reimbursement debit cards to purchase prescribed over-the-counter medicines and drugs.
- Safe harbor to REITs modified in response to default.
- Expanded Recovery Act Tax Credits $1500 max. for residential energy improvements.
- Payroll Tax Cut for 2011 provides a 2% reduction in Social Security tax withholding rate.
